2026-05-26 another project day got the second side together. Due to differences in the bits that got cut off of the sides of the dress, we wound up needing a third piece of fabric on the second side that wasn’t needed on the other. However, the result is still much more comfortable than the organial. 2026-05-25 I helped Marguerite de Couches with fitting of a second hand brown wool dresd. The original owner must have been only a little taller than Cego, but much broader. They also hadn’t finished the seams. Today, for the right side (and some steps for the left, too), we:
- Removed the sleeves
- Hemmed the sleeves

- Moved the shoulder seam a few cm down
- marked where the shoulder seam should sit
- marked where a Greenland style tall side gore seam ought to be along the waist
- extended that line on the diagonal to the bottom hem, enough in from the corner to provide that under arm gore
- cut the lines and inverted the new gores into place
- marked the line where the skirt touches the floor
- trimmed off the part below the hem, and used that bit to fill in missing bit of the side gore that used to be armpit
- hemmed the side seams of the side gore
- hemmed the body pieces
- sewed in the right side gore frim sleeve hem to skirt hem. Tomorrow we can do the other side.
