on 2026-01-30 visitors! I helped Cinder cut out a tabard from some of my black scrap linen. Since none of the pieces were especially big, it involved a number of pieces. Since Cinder also got help from Keldor this visit with some armour, there wasn’t time to complete the job before heading home again, so I wrote up the below and sent it to her, so she’d be able to finish it on her own.

The parts: A. Front panel. Three sides hemmed, the fourth, selvage edge down to be the bottom hem B. One side of the neckline. Hem all four sides. The part cut on the diagonal is the inner bit defining cleavage C. The other side of the neckline. Ditto D. The shoulders. Hem all sides E. Extra bit between the shoulders and the back. Hem all sides F. The back piece. Hem all sides. Narrow end up, wide end is bottom hem.

After hemming, sew them together

  • Attach B and C to A such that the diagonals make a V with the bottom touching the center of upper edge of A
  • Attach the other ends of B and C to the shoulder parts of D, leaving the neck curve open
  • attach the other end of D to one side of E
  • attach E to the top end of F.
