On 13 December, 2021 we attended an open house to look at Ringvägen 6, Lövånger. We knew even before we saw it that it would be a “fixer upper”, as the property announcement had no photos, other than the Google Street View image, which was several years old, and the only description said “renovation object with an appreciated location”, and specified that all registered vehicles on the property would be taken away by the current owners, but everything else on the property would stay with the house.

I had been hoping for a country property, with plenty of land and outbuildings. However, everything we’d looked at in the months before seeing this one had sold for twice the asking price, and my budget didn’t go that high. Therefore, Keldor suggested that we take a look, perhaps we could buy it, fix it up, and sell it for enough to get a property more to my liking? I was sceptical, as it was in the middle of a small town, but my deadline for moving was the end of the year, and we hadn’t found anything yet, so I agreed to go look.

It was bad, but the bad was (mostly) the junk and clutter that would come with the house. The house had “good bones” as one of my friends commented.

Here, lest I forget, are the photos of just how bad it was on that first walk through. The previous owner of the house liked fixing up cars. In the house. There were car parts in every room.

No, we don’t know why there was no sink or toilet seat. The missing tiles can be explained by someone showering, even though the walls had never been waterproofed, so water ran behind the tiles.
