Morning

Woke up with enough energy to cross-post to Dreamwidth blog entries that got sent to my blog after Double Wars and before flying to Ireland, giving as an intro”

“Life before Double Wars was much too busy, and while I continued to record (some of) what I was up to in Obsidian, I didn’t manage to often push it to GitHub to my blog, and really didn’t manage to cross-post it here, though sometimes I managed to find time to read what you all were up to.
Today I finally feel like I have time to do a simple list of links cross post, for any of you who might like to be filled in. (This would be easier with a computer, where copying the index from my blog would paste this list as clickable links for each entry, but as I have only my phone avaiable here, I prestent instead is the summary list of what you will get as links (that haven’t already been cross-posted here) if you click through to April”s index: and May’s index Many, though not all, of those entries, include photos of projects done for Double Wars.

Eventually, my stomach insisted I get up and head over to the main house for breakfast and morning conversation, with pauses now and then to help Billy move the scaffolding to get to the next bit of fasad remdering he is removing.

Once it is all gone he will sandblast the stone clean, and fill in gaps between the stones with mortar and, where needed, small stones.

Adventures

After breakfast, Keldor, Tania and I went out for adventures, driving over to the Kells Priory (not the one from the book of Kells, that one is closer to Dublin, this one is in Kells, Co. Kilkenny)

The Mill

From the Priory we took the loop walk along the river past one of the old mills, and over to the other, which now houses a restaurant upstairs and a milner downstairs. We stopped at the restaurant as they wanted coffee. I had asked earlier if Ireland has a scones and cream tradition like England does, and got a “not really”, but this restaurant had scones in addition to various chocolate deserts, and as they chose chocolate deserts, I tried the scones. Do not recommend. While they were both happy with the chocolate deserts, which looked moist and decadent, the scones were over baked dry, too sweet, and the “cream” Came from a can and was sweetened. I managed to eat what I was given, as it wasn’t bad, but neither did it in any way compare with what I had been thinking of when I asked about scones and cream.

The bridge

Just downstream from the mill is an unusual stone bridge. On the upstream side the suupports are spaced twice as far apart as on the downstream side. The view back to the mill from the bridge: And downstream:

The Pub

From the bridge we followed the loop road to the village, where we stopped at the Moat and Baily pub, where Keldor enjoyed a beer and we all enjoyed the fireplace.

the church

From there it was a short walk back to where we had parked, and a quick look at the church ruins on the other sidebof the parking from the Proriy ruins.

An early evening

When we got home it was nearly time for Mike to have a video appointment so we relaxed and chatted in the guest cottage, to keep distractions to a minimum. But there was some sort of problem getting connected so I am not certain it was needed, and we got word that it was clear to go to the main house around the time I started yoga.

After yoga I followed them into the house, where they were eating cheese and crackers, but then realised I was tired, so evrn though it was just over 20:00, I went back to the guest cottage with a hot water bottle and went to sleep.
