A late start to the day
Slept till nearly 10:00, had breakfast, and looked at the event schedule at 10:15, which showed that the Laurel Sponsored Prize Display had started 15 minutes before. Oops. So I hurried over and did my best to talk with everyone. Had enough good conversations that I didn’t quite manage to talk with them all before we were told to clear the tables for lunch.
Basket making
After lunch I attended the basket making class taught by Farraige. Since I hadn’t preregistered, and because I wanted the dopamine hit of finishing something today, I used three strands of raffia, in two colours, to make a tiny basket:

Early camp breakdown
In the evening everyone with a canvas tent who could do so took their tents down, as the weather had been sunny and dry since the small rainstorm during camp set up the first day, but the evening forcast was for a serious rainstorm, followed by a very wet final day of the event.
So everyone on site pitched in on taking down all the cosy camp social places and canvas tents, and those of us in modern nylon tents did pre-packing so tomorrow’s camp breakdown in the rain would be easier.
Helgas helm
Then a bunch of us gathered in the barn and talked for hours. The group was mostly fighters, so there was a lot of fighting talk. At one point Helga mentioned not using a helmet chin cup, and I said “wait, what!?“. So Helga fetched the helm, and showed how it works, with the disclaimer that this is not something based on period examples, but is 100% a modern sport adaptation. The secret is hinges on each side of the face plate along the temple line that open like wings. Those faceplate pieces curve to form fit to the chin, with just enough room for padding, and lock over the gorget, so that it can’t come off when the pin is in place
