This morning we drove up to Luleå, arriving to Gammelstad just after 10:00. Keldor dropped me off at the parking area, and I had just time to go to the loo and to change into my folk costume (I didn’t see any point in wearing it for a two hour drive), before the day’s opening procession began. In all previous years I have attended I have walked with this procession, so it was interesting to watch it coming, instead, and I even remembered that I own a camera, and that it will do films. I have made no attempt at editing it, but if you want a glimpse of that part of my day, here it is.
After filming that, and chatting with a few people, I joined the people in Danskul for a quick rehearsal of our performance, and was delighted to be recruited for two additional dances over and above the one I had planned on. After rehearsal we had a bit of time to relax and chat before it was our turn on the stage. The performance was fun, I love dancing!
Then I chatted with a few more people, till the series of dance workshops started. They were all at beginner level, but all dancing is fun, so I joined them for every set. Each workshop was 30 minutes, and had a different teacher.
First Helena ran a set of easy dances for children and adults, then Caroline taught basic Schottis, followed by Eva’s Rundpolska set, David’s Vals workshop, and finally Elisabet’s Kadril course.
After the Kadril I called Keldor, who was out at the smithy and let him know things were wrapping up, and I was ready to be picked up. thinking that we would do stuff together, either I would join them at the smithy, or something else till time for the evening dance at 20:00. However, he heard that I was ready to go home, so he finished what he was doing, packed up his things, and came and got me, arriving just after the final performance on the main stage ended.
I was a bit surprised that he was thinking of heading home, when we had talked about staying for the evening dance, but it wasn’t hard to convince me, either, and we were back to Skellefteå on by 18:00, stopped by the store to pick up some groceries, and were home by 18:42. Then he soaked in the tub, while I cooked a pot of chili to enjoy tomorrow.
Now I think I will go cuddle with him a bit, do my yoga, and see if I can get to bed at a reasonable hour.
