Or, as we say in English, crumble. I rarely make these the same way twice, and tend to just toss whatever sounds good in a bowl, without looking at a recipe first, but I keep coming back to them as they are yummy. Once in a while I write down what I put in them, and these will be recorded here.
Sometimes I use no sugar or honey at all, others, I add a little, but way, way less than most recipes call for.
An apple-rhubarb-walnut-cimmamon smulpaj for 2026-06-15 Keldor’s birthday week, day 1
Filling
- 3 apples
- 1 bag of frozen chopped rhubarb
- 5 tablespoons brown sugar
- cinnamon
- a little butter
Topping
- 5 dl oats
- 30 g butter
- 0.5 c walnuts
- 1 tablespoon honey
- cinnamon
to make
- butter a glass baking dish
- chop the apples into cubes, discarding the apple core
- thaw the rhubarb, and drain some of the water
- mix the apples and rhubarb with the sugar and a generous sprinkle of cinnamon and spread in the pan, then set a few thin slices of butter over
- mix the oats with the butter till the butter softens and is evenly distributed throughout the oats
- stir in the honey, cinnamon, and walnuts
- sprinkel evenly over the fruit mixture
- bake at 170 C till the apples are soft and fragrant, and the oats are looking a little toasted.
Keldor likes his with a vanilla sauce, I like mine with yoghurt.

- 7 dl oats
- 50 g butter
- 122 g Norwegian brown cheese
- 1/3 c almond
- 1/3 c walnuts
- 5 c apples
- 1 dl brown farin sugar
- Cinnamon
- Ginger
- Cardamom
2022-06-24 Rabarber och jordgubbar smulpaj
- 2 liter Rabarber (1 kg)
- 600 g jordgubbar
- 4 T mandelmjöl
- 6 T rismjöl
- 3 T honung
- 6.5 dl havregryn
- 3 dl vetemjöl
- 2 T socker
- 200 g smör baka på 175 C
Gluten free vegan crumble V3
- 2.1 c boveteflingor
- 1/2 c mandelmjöl
- 1/4 c hasselnötsmjöl
- 1/4 c chopped hazelnuts
- 1 T Norrlandsbär
- 1 T nyponskalsmjöl
- 2 t cinnamon
- 1 avacado
- 1 c grated carrot
- 2 c red currants
- 2 c apple
2020-12-17 Caramel Apple Carrot Crumble
- 2 c carrot
- 3 c apple
- 0.15 c plum
- 0.5 grated Norwegian brown cheese
- 2 c Muesli
- 50 g butter
- 1 T rosehip powder
- 1 t cinnamon
- 1 t cardamom
2020-06-05 Caramel apple etc. etc. crumble
- 4 c oats
- 200 g butter
- 3 T rosehip powder
- 1 t blueberry power
- 1 t cinnamon
- 1/2 t cardamom
- Dash nutmeg
- 1/3 c almond meal
- 1 c grated carrot
- 200 g grated Norwegian brown cheese
- 4 c apple
- 0.5 c black currant, chopped
- 0.5 c walnut
- 2 t sugar
2020-02-07 Pear-pecan crumble
- 100 g butter
- 1 T brown sugar
- 1 T rosehip powder
- Cardamom
- Ginger
- Nutmeg
- Grains of paradise
Mix the above, melt 1 T of it to mix with 3 cups chopped pears, and blend the rest with:
- 2 cups oats
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans to make the topping.
2020-01-19 Mango-carrot-black currant crumble
- 2 c oats
- 0.5c hazelnut flour
- 0.5 c almond flout
- 4 T butter
- 1 T sugar
- Cardamom
- Ginger
- Nutmeg top with 3 c filling:
- 1 mango
- 1 sm carrot
- frozen black currants, chopped
