Even though I was up till midnight last night, I got up at 06:00 to begin getting ready. As Keldor drove to work we chatted on the phone, and I managed to fold the pavilion, which has been spred out over things in the garage to dry since we got home from the Ren Faire, 2.25 days ago.
I don’t like having to fold it in such a narrow space, but by spreading out one panel at a time, it works.
After Erin got up, we loaded the food into the ice chest, which was already in the car, lifted the pavilion into the gap in front of the ice chest and the long pole for our loaner tent, and then piled the last of the luggage and bedding over everything that was already there (we hadn’t taken most of the things from last weekend out, only the few things that needed washing or drying).
Then we ate, swung by the local second hand store to pick up the probably antique knife Keldor bought when they showed it on line. While there I bought a cake playe with a smaller pedestal than the one I already have. Hopefully, this one will fit in the fridge with the glass dome (which came with the old cake plate) on.
Then we got on the road at 10:24. GoogleMaps said we would be on site at 11:11, and, indeed, that is exactly when we pulled into the parking lot. Predicting arrival time is easy when one sets cruise control at exactly the speed limit.
Since it looked like it might rain, and had rained earlier, we carried over only the tent itself at first, and only after it was up did we empty the car into the tent.
Soon thereafter Keldor arrived (taking his lunch break from work), and helped me get the sunshade set up where he wants it for the smithy.
The next several hours were a pleasant Time getting my camp set up, with beds for five in my tent (Holmfrid on the left side, Erin on the right side, and Charlotte, Keldor and I filling the area between the back wall and the centre pole), and everything where it belongs and looking pretty.
Then I did my yoga, before heading over to help out with some of the display in the barn, and suddenly I was super tired, and it was after 20:00.
By then Keldor and Erin had returned from their after work session in the workshop building Erin’s helmet, so we put on garb and did a loop around to see who was here and chat to people.
I gave up after a while and went to bed at 22:00.
