Morning packing, projects, and garage sale
I got up at around 07:00, and started a little packing/car loading.
After Keldor got up we took down the party tent, which had suffered some weather damage. One or more of the roof poles had bent enough to let the roof sag and start collecting water, and yesterday’s rain caused enough water to collect that the lightweight aluminium poles couldn’t take the weight, so more of them bent.
I noticed yesterday as it was raini g, so then I just stripped down to just a pair of Merino wool long underware shorts and loosened up the fabric from the poles enough to drain the huge amount of water that had collected (which was too heavy to just push up over the horizontal poles around the roof perimeter). Then I left it resting on the table in such a way as to not collect more water
But this morning it was no longer raining, so it was time to take away the ugly pile of poles and fabric, so we did. We can look at it later to see of anything is salvageable.
Then Keldor made a bit more progress on the door he is building, I finished the paxking and koading the car, and Tristyn packed his luggage.
Before we left we checked out the garage sale next door at the tower house, which turns out to be something run by the Hembygdsförening (local history society), and it was 100% antiques, many of which had museum numbers written on them.
Keldor saw a (I forgot the name, but stolpe is part of it, since it mounts on a post), that is better than the one he has so he bought it. We found the cute tiny lathe tempting, but don’t know what we would do with it, so let it be.
the drive north
We ran some errands on our way to the event. Grocery shopping for Keldor’s dad, dropping off the package for Petronilla that we were given at Broken Arrow last month, buying more cat food and cat treats etc. (so we don’t have to on the way home), and aime snacks for the road and for the event.
We also stopped at the lighthouse at Jävre to climb to the top, because of course we did. Gilbert and Tristyn’s car got there first, as we had needed to put desil in mine, so they got a hed start, which meant they were alreay at the top when we got there.

This was Keldor’s first time to go up the lighthouse, as he wasn’t with me when I found out that one can, when Clara was visiting 2025-11-01 Storforsen > view from Jävre’s lighthouse.

About that far into the drive we realised that we had forgotten to pack towels, so Keldor and I wanted to stop at a store to buy some, as the event is in Finland, so of course there is a sauna (we need more guest towels anyway). But Gilbert wanted to stop and get some food, so we did a quick divide and conquer mission.
They stopped at the pyramid to eat, and we went on to Luleå and bought some towels at the big box stores just off the highway. Those missions accomplished, we were now about 10 minutes ahead of the other car, so we decided that we would pick up Lexie in Kemi, and they would go straight to site. This meant that they arrived on site about five minutes before we should have.
We took another 8 minutes, as when we came to the small dirt road on the left, Keldor didn’t take the turn, thinking it was too small to be the left coming up that we should take. When I said “no that one”, he stopped and replied “are you sure?”
Since the map was very zoomed in, I couldn’t see the destination, so I replued “no” and started to zoomed in to try to see where the buildings were in relation to where the gps was navigating. While I was doing that he replied “can I drive forward and see what happens?” Since that is always an option, I foolishly replied “yes”, instead of telling him to wait till I had enough information to answer “are you sure”.
The gps immediately gave us a new path, going forward, a big loop around, across the highway and back to the missed turn. I tried suggesting we back up. Keldor insisted we follow the new path.
Eight minutes of lovely small forest road, and two bridges over the highway later, we were back in the same place, took the left onto the tiny toad, and a couple of 100 meters later were on site.
Friday at the the event
We checked in, and Keldor, Gilbert and I found our cabin, which was big enough to put Keldor and I on the matress we brought on the floor in the corner. My apprentice Bjarni had already claimed one lower bunk.
We moved the air matress off of the other lower bunk and put Gilbert’s matress there, leaving the top bunks for Tristyn and Lexie.
By the time we three got moved in, beds arranged, stuff organised, and into garb, Tristyn and Lexie returned from their walk in the forest, so we got them into garb. My blue bileaut was too tight in the shoulders for Lexie, but the brown one fits well.

After we were all dressed and ready we hung out and chatted with people at the table at Haakons tent (where Tristyn got cuddles from Stinky, Haakon’s dog). Eventually I went back to the cabin to do my yoga, but before I started I paused to reply to messages.
locked in
Then Keldor and Gilbert arrived to get snacks or something. Gilbert left first, shutting the cabin door properly behind him. Then Keldor tried to leave, but the door was shut tight, and felt locked.
Luckily, the window on the side of the cabin was openable, and wide enough to climb out, so Keldor did, and I started my yoga. He came back with Gilbert and they managed to get the door open from the outside.
the evening winds down
Keldor grabbed one of the new towels and went to the sauna. A bit later Gilbert also wandered off to the sauna, and I joined the folk remaining at Haakon’s tent, till Haakon started to get ready for bed, and Bjarni said they would do the same, and webt to the hall for teeth brudhing etc.
So Tristyn, Lexie, and I returned to the cabin to make their beds before Bjarni returned and was ready to turn off the cabin lights. By then we all realised we were tired, so I helped Lexie get the bileaut off over her shoulders and got ready for bed myself.
I was in bed by 01:22 Finish time, so just after midnight at home, and it was only about 10 or do minutes later that Keldor came in and crawled into bed too.
