Slept in till after 07:00, and then decided that I should get up and do some pilates, to keep my hips happy with me. But, before I did, I thought about the event this weekend, and was inspired with a new project idea, an Indoor event snack box. So I took a moment to jot the idea down before feeding the cats and doing a half hour of Pilates.
I had time to do a load of laundry, and we managed to get the new big rug that Keldor bought thinking it would be good for events spread out in the downstairs guest room, which, of course, meant we needed to remove the existing rugs and sweep the room first.
But then it was really time to head to town for Reengarda’s Crafts Afternoon, so I quickly packed some food, my sewing, and a water bottle, we picked up Bryan, and off we went.
First we stopped by Keldor’s work to drop off his work vehicle (he needed it to bring home the plywood he bought on Friday) and pick up his car. Then we dropped Bryan off a the meeting and went to Jula, where we bought a wooden box for the Indoor event snack box, a string of led lights to put in the stairs and a couple of new led ceiling lights.
After doing the shopping, we returned to the Crafts Afternoon, and spent a few delightful hours hanging out with Bryan and Petronilla. Three of us worked on sewing projects, and Keldor did the sketches for the artwork I will paint on the box.

Part way through the meeting Petronilla decided she needed to head over to Class Olsens to buy something, and we all decided to join her. On the way we noticed a new food import store, so stopped in. They had pumpkin seeds in a bulk bin, so I bought a couple of kg, which should last me a while.
At the next store we bought more: a new dish-washing brush, a portable electric heater that looks like a fireplace with a burning fire it it (for the upstairs bedroom), a personal reading/project light that hangs around the neck (that I am hoping will permit me to sew after sunset during road trips without causing light problems for the driver), and and a couple of decorative window lights (one moon, and one fireworks):

The moon one looks only bright in the above photo, but in person it looks like this:

Then we returned to the crafts gathering for a while longer before heading home.
After putting everything away and hanging the new lights I did the first layer of the base coats of paint on the box (a pale grey “morning haze” on the outside, and some of the yellow wet room paint on the inside, as that will be easier to wash if anything in the ice chest ever leaks). Then we went upstairs, put the hinges into the channels I carved yesterday and placed the new door next to them, so we could mark where the other half of the hinges will sit. Then I carved the door so that they will sit in place, we attached them, and hung the door. Now the upstairs is much closer to ready for winter. The doors need their door frames finished with the raised edges on each side of the door, so that drafts won’t come into to room, and there are still a few places with exposed insulation that needs covering, but it is much closer!
Then I did the second coats of paint on the box:

After yoga I tried updating this blog, hit a java script error about obsidian using too much memory, spent some time trouble shooting that, left an update on my open github issue for obsidian sync, turned Quartz Syncer back off so I can type in peace, and did this update. Now it is after midnight, and I should have gone to bed hours ago. Oops. Keldor tried to talk me into bed a bit ago, when he got up for his midnight toilet run, and failed to listen. Now my job is to wait up cheerful in a few hours, despite my failure to sleep at a reasonable time. I think I can do this.
