Keldor took a “sov morgon” today, so the alarm was set for 07:00 instead of 05:00. I woke briefly at 05:00-ish, considered getting up and training, and trying to re-do my home work station to be better ergonomically, but just fell back asleep instead. Once we got up we got the monitor arm he had brought home from work some days (weeks?) ago out of the car and brought it in. During our morning phone call, I transferred my monitor to the monitor arm, and then tried to figure out how best to use it to get the monitor to a better height than the old monitor stand had been.
Alas, the joint at the end, which controls the monitor tilt wasn’t tight enough to hold it at a good angle, so I rotated everything so that the monitor was over the wood of the top shelf of the desk (so 90 degrees from where it had been sitting, and considerably higher), then I shoved a bit of wood under the edge of the monitor when it was at the right tilt, to support it and keep it where I wanted.
Then I dragged my recliner out of the corner, and went looking for scrap wood to build a new keyboard stand at the right height to use my kneeling chair. I know that we will re-do my entire home computer workstation later, better, so today’s goal was “as quick as possible, using scrap I don’t need to cut, that will work”
The result isn’t pretty, but it works:

I got the keyboard shelf done by 11:00. (This required heading to the local hardware shop to buy a couple of bolts to attach the bottom part of the shelf supports to some angle brackets screwed to the underside of the lower shelf of the original desk. I am so going to miss them when they close in two weeks.)
I then worked till 16:00, and finally cleaned up the mess I had made while building. This convinced me that I needed to add an extension for arm support when using my drawing tablet, and that I wanted another layer of padding to support the wrists at the keyboard, so I made it so (both included in the above photo).
Now I have a monitor that is at a better height, and a chair that will be more comfortable for my hips. The recliner is now waiting in the attic cold storage room, in the place that the sewing machine we gave Alfr used to sit. After we finish the upstairs bedroom, we will decide if we want a recliner up there, or if it should be gotten rid of.
