pear cloud puffed rice treats 2026-06-17
Since the recipe I adapted to make my first äpplemoln started with “did you know you can make marshmallows from…?”, today I decidedto try making rice crispy treats with it. I have pears in the house, so I will use thse snd add butter, because the part I always loved best about rice crispy treats wss the butter.
- 269 g pears (two pears, weight after removing peels and cores)
- 50 dl water
- 16 g gelatin powder
- 50 g butter
- 3 cups puffed rice
Knowing that there would be 20 minutes with the electric mixer, I only quartered the pears before cooking, to save prep time. However, they weren’t soft yet by the time I washed and put away the lunch dishes, so perhaps I should have chopped them.
Even after 30 min of mixing the volume hadn’t really increased, but I decided it didn’t need to if combined with puffed rice. I was right.
After cooling, the taste was good, reminiscent of rice crispy treats, but better, and less sweet. The texture, on the other hand, is soft, since unsweetened rice puffs are soft.
