The UFO’s back story
Sometime a year or so ago, when visiting David and Caroline she gifted me with a UFO, a black wool dress she had started for herself, and nearly finished before setting the project asside. She had come to realise that it was the sort of Un Finished Object (UFO) That would never be completed, as the colours don’t suit her taste in colour. However, the colours suit my tastes perfectly, and we are similar enough in size, did I want it? Yes, I did.

I was too busy then to start doing anything with it when she gave it to me, and months slipped by, but on 2026-06-24 packing for Broken Arrow, as I was packing for Broken Arrow, I decided it might be a good event project, and tried it on.
She had planned to side-lace it, and had started sewing some cotton reinforcement along the opening. I decided that the sleeves are too tight. They fit over my arms, but only just, and that without an under dress. She had also given my the leftover fabric, so I decided to add rectangles to the sides that would extend from the top of the side gores and then become a bigger underarm gore than she had used, and extend as a triange gores heading up the arms past the elbows.
So I cut the rectangles for that, and packed the project.
