I woke around 06:30 (so just over four hours of sleep), and resumed unloading the car. When the others got up (not that much later) We put up the sunshade and set about making the camp pretty.

the camp

We had the car empty and ready to tale to parking around the time the various merchants came to start setting up their stuff, and I had the inside of the tent pretty before the fair opened at 10:00.

Gilbert went and set up and ran archery, down nest the entry to the fair, right by the causeway to the island, so everyone walking in would see it, and many stopped to try it out.

Asker, Simon and I chatted with the various merchants and, as they started trickling in, the visitors, spreading the word about the SCA and what we do.

people I met

I didn’t learn everyone’s name, but, here are a few

Simon

Simon is an old friend of Askers, and camped with us. We were delighted to have his company, and hopes he camps with us at all events from here on out.

Karin has the keys to the museum, and shared with me the link to the Vendel Age sword hilt that was found in Stensele (see L1938:9961 Fyndplats, Stensele 268:1 for the location, 8 km from the RenFaire site).
