I woke at 02:00 and decided that, since I was awake, I may as well get the photos I took at TurkuCastle into my blog. Then decided to try to go back to sleep, gave up, and did a quick workout instead, heading back to bed just after 03:00.
I then slept till time to get up and keep Keldor company on his drive to work. That gave me some time to relax before heading downstairs to meet my colleagues for breakfast at 08:00.
After breakfast we met up with one of Phill’s friends, who is doing research in automated data homegnation, for a chat till it was time to head to Digikult
There followed a day full of interesting talks, and much progress on my New winter coat. Keldor called about 30 seconds after the last talk ended, so I kept him company for his drive home. He had tried to fix my problem headlight on the van after work, but it was being obstinate, so he gave up for the day, and will deal with it tomorrow (which is why he was only just driving home at 17:30).
While I was walking Keldor remembered the smoked liquorice fish I had bought for him as a gift on my last time in the Stockholm Airport (where where is a store that sells nothing but liquorice), and had just asked me to get him some more, when I went around a corner, and saw a store that sells nothing but liquorice. So I went in, and the person on duty found the candy Keldor wants, and he is happy, other than the part where he has to wait two days before he will get it.
After I was back to the hotel room I caught up on work email and looked up the various speakers from today’s talks, then went downstairs to look for the hotel guy. I turns out that their gym is having its floor redone, so in the meantime we can trade our room key for an access key to the gym on the other side of the street, so I did. After about 20 minutes or so of training my attention span sent me back to my room, but I took the stairs up to the 8th floor, rather than the lift.
But as soon as I walked into the room I realised I was no longer carrying by water bottle, so I walked down 8 flights of stairs, traded back my key, went back across the street to gym, grabbed my water bottle, and returned to my room (ok, I confess, the second time, I took the lift up).
I scrolled a little on FB before doing a short yoga session, then took a nice, hot, shower to keep my legs from cramping up, and went to bed just after 22:00.
I had hoped to meet up with Hjalmar and Sofie this evening, but he came down with a cold. I am sad to have missed seeing them, but it was nice evening anyway.
