I went to bed early last night, but didn’t sleep as deeply as I would have liked. I woke several times needing to head to the loo, opted not to use ny chamber pot in the tent, as I wasn’t certain my body would stop with just peeing (so, of course, having walked all the way to the outhouse, it didn’t feel the need to do more than pee).Another couple of times Keldor woke me, one of the to ask where something was “in your chest”, the other when he came on to sleep at 05:00.
Since I had promised to pick up Queen Elsa at the train station, and it was due in to Luleå at 08:51, I decided to just het up at 06:48, to do my yoga early.
I checked first if thevtrain was on tume, and noticed that it stops at the hospital at Sunderbyn, very near site. So I sent Elsa a message saying that if it sounds interesting I could meet the train there instead, and thus we would arrive on site before the train reaches Luleå.
This plan was approved, which gave me time to eat breakfast befote departure. However, when I started driving, I discovered that the gate at the far end of the causeway was locked (it was open when I arrived lasy night).
Not wanting to turn the van arround on a narrow causeway, I walked back to camp, found someone with the code, and turned to hutry back to the car. Atvwhich point I caught my toe on a root, and fell forward. Do not recommend.
I hopped up, brushed the dirt off my hands, and continued on my mission, having done a detour that took longer that the drive to the station. I arrived just after the train arrived, but before it had continued on, and we were, in fact, back on site well before the train reached Luleå.
I spent the rest of the morning being useful, finding the bedding for the Queen and getting the inside of the tent set up, and helping with breakfast dishes.
Then I was sleepy again, so I slept from 11:00 to 13:00 before waking abruptly to the feeling that I am supposed be somewhere, and did I miss it? Nope. I am at the event, and I already did my morning time-related duties.
Once I convinced myself to get up and get dressed and leave the pavilion, I had a lovely afternoon chatting to people and working on [[Caroline’s UFO.
Much to my delight, Kjartan arrived not long after I got up, with nyckelharpa, skalmea (sp?), and a new, beautiful, five-string violin. The violin’s previous owner, and maker, Riksspelman Mats Nordström had sadly died of cancer a couple of years ago, and his brother auctioned off Mats instruments at Spelmansstämman. Kjartan bid only on the five-string that Mats had regularly played, and got it.
I served as the Queen’s attendant during court, which was nice. There was an AoA for a dear friend, a Lindqviststring for one of the archers who travelled up from southern Sweden, and a Panache for both Eino and Stig. The herald, with the Queen’s consent, used Eino’s full SCA name, Eino Karjalainen Beatanpoika Pöksyläinen Lindú of Finnmork aff Weselax av klanen McCullen for the summons to court. (But for three cheers afterwards stoped after th we first three and switch to etc., etc, etc)
As people were getting ready for the barbecue after court, Annika brought me a package of leipiäjuustoa, which made me very happy. The Finnish squeaky cheese is, in my opinion, the food of the gods, and I love it. I look forward to enjoying it for breakfast.
Shortly thereafter, Phire arrived to set up for their evening fire show, and it filled my heart with joy to see Villiam again, it has been much too long.
The fire show was a delight, and Keldor used my phone to take some cool photos.
Alas, as Phire has another show tomorrow, which will take all day, Villiam couldn’t stay after the show, but it sure was good to catch up, a little.
Later in the evening Þórólfr got out Albion Saves Royalty, for which he has obtained a couple of new expansion sets, including the one he created for Reengarda, and we played a game as Kjartan played music for us as we contemplated which cards to play. The game is enhanced with musical accompaniment!
After the game I was feeling cold and tired, so I soaked briefly in the hot tub, and then went to bed just before midnight. Much to my surprise, Keldor came in to head to bed then, too.
