Had problems focusing for work, so when Keldor heard back from a guy selling a new car, I agreed to take a break and go with him.

The car was in Ursviken, the next town over from Skelleftehamn, where he works, and his dad lives. So we took his work car over and test drove the car, which had its last inspection in May, and its taxes for the year are already paid, so, in theory, shouldn’t need fussing with for a while.

He decided to take it, so I we drove both cars over to his work to leave the company car, then went to his dad’s, where he pointed out that there are raspberries growing along the fence.

So I started eating my wal along the fence, behind the garage, climbed down the small retaining wall to reach the berries growing at the bottom, carefully avoiding the nettles, and fighting my way through the bushes as I went. Eventually, I reached the end of the thicket, and came out to the nicely maintaned lower part if the yard, where I saw that the greenhouse, neglected since Keldor’s mom died during the pandemic, has been taken over by yet more raspberries, with even more ripe berries, and my tummy said “Enough already! You aren’t eating even more berries now”.

Realising that it had a point, and seeing that the huge red currant bush was also full of ripe berries, I went in for a couple of bowls.

I first picked the raspberries from inside the greenhouse

Then started on the red currants. Thst bush is large enough that I hadn’t made it half way around before Keldor came out to say that two hours had elapsed since we arrived, and perhaps we should head home.

So we did, and put the roof rack and box on the car straight away, so that we are ready to head to Gränstaverna this weekend, with room for four people and their stuff.

Then I put the berries in the dehydrator, and was disturbed by how many raspberries had bits that went into compost instead of the dehydrator.

Really, one shouldn’t look too closely at raspberries. Better to eat them fresh off the plant and spit out anything that feels wrong, and not think too much about it.
