A busy day full of meetings, including my second to last exam as part of the The Swedish Glaucoma Nicotinamide Trial (SGNT) https://sgnt.se/
In the evening I went to the first session of Lövånger’s choir for the autumn. I wasn’t happy with the song choices, since the group will be doing a Gospel Songs performance later this month, and a couple of the songs made me downright uncomfortable.
However, there was a book sale in the room, and they had a couple of the Narnia books in Swedish, and also Det Svarta Hingsten. The latter was especially appealing, as I had a copy of The Big Black Horse when I was little. I didn’t know that there was a longer version of the story, nor that there was entire series of books about that horse. Which is funny, as Keldor has read the entire series. But my copy was the only one I ever saw, and it never occurred to me to that there might be more to the story than just that. I don’t think that book made it to Alaska when we moved there, which would explain why it hadn’t.
When choir stopped singing and the director called everyone else to fika, I couldn’t resist opening my new book and reading the first couple of chapters. My goodness, there is so much more information in this version than the easy reader illustrated version I had! Why, as a small child, did it never occur to me to wonder why Alec was on the boat in the first place?
