Called the shop in Ånäset at 07:00, they don’t have time between now and Thursday to look at the car, but from my description, he guesses that it was a break that got stuck somehow, and he recommends driving it and seeing if the problem comes back. Since I finally got the dataset we have been waiting for for months at work, we decided that rather than spending time calling around to find someone to look at it today, I would work, and after work we will try a test drive and see. Worst case scenario we look into borrowing a car and hiring a trailer for the trip south.
After work I drove into town, with no symptoms of any car problems, so he checked the oil and changed a headlight, and a few other useful tasks, and I drove home again (still no car problems, so we will hope it is ok enough for the drive south on Tuesday).
He stayed at the workshop and finished the spit roasting grill.

Which packs so compactly that he says “Ikea are amateurs”.

I had enough energy when I got home to make a batch of berry almond mousse ice cream, and, having bought a bag of kale yesterday, and dried it overnight, I also filled a jar with my Instant soup blend, this time, since we were nearly out of mushroom powder I took the coarse bits of dried mushrooms (that didn’t go through the sive the last time I made and sifted mushroom powder from dried mushrooms) and ran them through the mini food processor, which quickly turned it to powder. Since it was out, I put each sub batch of the ingredients in the mini food processor too, so it is well blended.
Then I filled my various wooden boxes with nuts, seeds, and dried fruit, and I filled the new little wicker basket with some spice jars, so my event pantry is packed with the basics. Hopefully I will find the energy to bake oatcakes, flatbred, and cookies between now and Thursday when we leave.
