My winter coat I made when I lived in Tasmania, and for which I have needed to replace the lining of a couple of times since, is once again in need of help. This time, it might be worth replacing the whole coat, instead of repairing. So this morning I got out the Narrow heavy black wool and started measuring. I drew rectangles and triangles as I went, in hopes that there is enough, snd then I could just cut.
There is, but I finished at 08:30, and we want to head out around 09:00, so I gently accordion folded it and set it on the floor of the garb closet so the cats don’t lay on it when I am gone.
Then it was a handful of errands (pick up a package at the local gas station, to Biltema to get some supplies for projects, check the secondhand store while we were in the area, and a grocery store) before heading to Skelleftehamn.
We drove to the workshop so Keldor and Cinder could work on armour, and I took a quick nap before driving over to his dad’s to pick berries.
An hour and a half later I returned to the workshop with black and currants (the apples aren’t ready yet).
They had finished turning the paper pattern Cinder had made last night of the Frostheim barrel helmet into a more permanant thin plate metal pattern, and she was busy tracing that onto the actual steel for the helmet. Keldor was bust adding the vstiois grtll racks to the smoker part of his Train bbq in progress.
I was hungry, so I ate my salad and some cheese, and glanced at messages. Saw the Seneschal’s call for letters of intent for autumn Crown, with a link to the web form. So I did that paperwork for both of us, pointing out that we are still building My new helmet and gorget, so if we get it done before October, I am fighting. But since I gave away my Bacinet helmet, finishing the ne one is a prerequisite.
However, we hadn’t brought that helmet with us today, so I couldn’t do any work on that, Keldor was welding (so I couldn’t help there), and Cinder was busy cutting out the steel for her helm (also a one person job, there being just the one big cutting machine). So I washed Keldor’s car, used the wire brush on the rust (over the back tires), and sprayed them with zinc, so hopefully they won’t get worse.
By the time that was done the others had reached a breaking point, so we went bsck to the house, where I cut out the woll bits of the coat, and then started basting them down to the
