Woke at 09:00, ate pasha for first breakfast (yum!), and spent time alternating between a relaxed pace of packing a little, putting the packed thing in the car, chatting with friends, nibbling a bit more food, and packing another thing. It was really nice, save for feeling bad for sending away a dear friend who had gotten their own stuff packed and wanted to help me with mine.
I truly suck at delegating, being a control freak who was raised to believe that if you want something done right, do it yourself. I was delighted to have woken well before Keldor, so I could pack and organise our joint stuff myself, and not have to deal with his doing some of it and then my not knowing exactly where everything it, and then I have someone who isn’t either of us wanting to help, and being so cute about it hurt to send them away, but no, don’t touch my stuff without me explicitly asking for help!
But I did achieve my goal of getting pretty much everything together before Keldor woke and came upstairs for breakfast.
After getting packed up I helped out a bit with the group in the kitchen packing up leftovers, and took home some of the lentil soup, the pea soup, and some thawed berries.
We left site before the kitchen was done as we had some errands to do.
First Jula, as Bryan wanted a feast gear box for Crown next weekend, that he can decorate later. While there, Keldor picked op one of those roll-top supports for boards or plywood that will make it easier to push things through the planer etc.
Then over to Myrona second hand store, where Bryan found a nicer feast gear box, a nice wall hanging for his room, and a bunch of other useful odds and ends for his house and crafts projects. It is fun to go Op shopping with someone still in the process of moving in to a new house. Everything I picked up thinking “Bryan might like/need this”, and carried over to him, he wound up buying.
Stop three was the big gaming store we didn’t know was there but Bryan had found on one of his trips to Umeå. Oh, my, that is a very large, well stocked, store!
I managed to leave without buying any games, having bought fabric and tablet woven trim the day before, and thus felt I had spent enough money. But I did buy a can of purple spray paint, as we had never found a good purple for the rainbow laurel wreath on my car, and the metallic purple we used in absence of a good colour has faded to be nearly the same as the neighbouring blue.
Stop four was the food import store in the next building, where I stocked up on some dried fruit, some black rice, roasted chickpeas, nuts, and impulse bought some strawberries (it feels weird that it is still strawberry season in Belgium, when fall is so far along here that the neighbour’s maple is going past red and into more yellows, and all the birches have already lost their leaves).
Then we went to the pet store in the other end of that building, where Keldor got some more of the little blue fishes and crab that did not want to get into that net to be taken out of the aquarium (and who could blame em?) It will be interesting to see if the crab ever leaves the privacy of the rocks and plants of our aquarium to come out to the visible parts of the tank.
Then we finally went home. Bryan helped us unload our stuff from the car, and then took the car over to his place to unload his stuff.
We fed the cats, put the food in the fridge, and then I curled up on the couch with a book and a bowl of the lemtil soup. Keldor sat down beside me, looked briefly at his phone and fell asleep. An hour or so later I got up to start getting stuff put away, and managed to mostly clear the kitchen table before he was awake enough to join me, so we celebrated with a game of Qwirkle (he won).
Then I did an early yoga, took a shower and started getting ready for bed. Then Bryan dropped by with a question on the next step on his coat in progress.
After helping him with that, I went to bed, leaving them to chat a few minutes more.
